Dear Kristen,

Thank you for contacting me about your support for afterschool programs. I share your support.

Last year, I sent a letter to President Obama asking that he support funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers' afterschool program. This program provides academic enrichment opportunities for children in low-performing schools and assists students in meeting achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as math and reading.

Congress has also made significant investments in education, giving states the resources to build, modernize, and bring new technology and resources to our schools. Please know that I will continue to work on improving our nation's afterschool programs.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues of concern to you and your family.

Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator

Support Federal Funding for Afterschool Programs

We at SBSI Software, Inc. provide after school programs, community education, child care providers etc. the software to make online registration and payments easy. Without these programs, where will our children and adults go for enrichment? Where will they go to better their education after school? Who will watch our children and elderly?

We implore you to consider the effects of cutting budgets to after school programs…they are our future.  The ripple effects will trickle down to programs that are already hurting such as Parks and Recreation, Community Education, Summer Camps etc.

Regards,

Kristen Bye
